What type of coal stoves are there?

There are furnaces for warm air heating, stoves for radiant heat, and boilers for water or steam heat and abundant hot water.

How do you feed coal stoves?

The coal is fed into the stove through a hopper, similar to a pellet stove.

How long have coal stoves been available?

Coal stoves have been manufactured and refined for about 30 years.

Where can I buy the coal?

At Adirondack Stoves, we sell Blaschak rice coal by the ton in 40 lb. bags. We deliver coal locally - call us for more information.
Why is coal better than wood for heating?
Coal has a higher BTU rating than wood does, so it burns hotter than wood. In fact, it takes approximately 1.3 tons of wood pellets to produce the same amount of heat as one ton of coal. In addition, coal is smokeless.
Can I store the coal outside?
Yes, because coal does not absorb moisture.
