Save money and reduce your heating costs, just by stopping chimney leaks and cold air drafts into your home.
Blanket Insulation
When most gas, pellet and wood stove inserts are installed, they are not properly insulated.
To reduce cold air drafts and create better heat efficiency, the chimney damper area above the stove should be insulated around the liner as well as the termination area at the top of the chimney. This will create dead air space which prevents rising heat from escaping off the stove and also restricts cold air entering from the top of the chimney. Heating efficiency can be increased by 50% and heating cost reduced substantially.
THERMIX Insulation and Structural Support System
We use a product called TherMix. This insulation has been used as chimney liner insulation for decades. It is UL Listed for use with most kinds of chimney liners. It is a dry mix that is mixed with water. Then it is easily poured into the cavity between the stainless steel liner and the chimney flue. TherMix is lightweight and adds superior structural strength to the chimney installation. TherMix maintains a consistent liner temperature and reduces condensation. It increases efficiency, aiding in quick start-ups and helps establish draft and greatly reducing smoking upon starting. TherMix fixes the problem of broken clay flues.
Residential Chimney Repair
A chimney must be moisture and gas tight and convey the products of combustion to the outside atmosphere. It sounds like a simple job, but because chimneys are exposed to weather, high and low temperatures, water and moisture, squirrels, nest building hornets and birds, corrosive gases, combustible products, potentially fatal flue gases, and even sparks that could cause a fire, and because proper venting of flue gases is necessary for safe and efficient heating system operation, a periodic and careful chimney inspection is important.
